1950 hrs on May 29th Dresden Fire was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Anthony Road. Dresden Chief Ted Cox responded and requested mutual aid from Penn Yan Fire, Bellona Fire, and West Lake Road Fire. Upon arrival Dresden Asst. Chief Ken Shaner reported a working fire on the first floor. Dresden engine 25 committed to the fire. Penn Yan Ambulance transported the home owner who received burns to his hand and smoke inhalation while trying to put out the fire with a garden hose before reporting it. During an initial search of the house firefighters found a cat and removed it from the structure. The cat appeared to be lifeless and was given oxygen and CPR by firefighter Bryan Housel. The cat was revived and sent to a local veterinary clinic for future evaluation. Penn Yan returned back in service at 2100 hrs. PYFD responded with Rescue M5, TA-18 and all chiefs. |

2035 hrs on Sunday May 27th Penn Yan Fire was dispatched to a reported car fire on Hoyt road. Initial units on scene reported a fully involved truck fire. Asst. Chief Rick Retorick called on scene and called command. The blaze was extinguished in about 10 minutes and PYFD cleared the scene at 2055 hrs. PYFD responded with Engine 1, Engine 3, Rescue M5, TA18, Car 901 and Car 903. The blaze clamed a Chevy S-10 pickup truck, no one was injured. |

1410 hrs on Saturday May 26th Branchport/Keuka Park Fire was dispatched to a fully involved structure fire on County House Woods road. The call was initiated by Potter Fire Chief Richard Dimon Jr. when he drove past the residence and noticed the structure was fully involved. BKPFD Asst. Chief Eric Pinckney reported that this structure on County House Woods was the same one that had burnt a month earlier. The structure was being demolished and there wasn’t any life hazard, so all united continued to the scene in a non-emergency response. The fire was extinguished and PYFD was released at 1512 hrs. In Yates County you must notify fire dispatch any time you are during any type of control burn. You can not burn a standing structure with out permits. 2250 hrs on Friday May 25th Penn Yan Fire was dispatched to a reported structure fire at Big Doug’s Meaner Weiner on Router 54A. Asst. Chief Simpson called on scene and reported heavy smoke showing. Engine 1 committed to the fire with engine 3 laying a supply line into the scene, Rescue M5 provided air packs and lighting to the scene. It was quickly discovered that there was a fire in the wall, and the fire was extinguished in about 5 minutes. Penn Yan was on the scene for about and hour and returned back in service at 2355 hrs. Dresden Fire Department manned Penn Yan’s station while it was working the call. |

1515 hrs on Tuesday April 23rd, Branchport/Keuka Park fire department was dispatched to a reported house fire on county house woods road. BKPFD assistant chief Mike Chapman called enroute and requested mutual aid from Benton and Penn Yan Fire. At 1520hrs PYFD Lieutenant Bryan Housel called on scene and reported a fully involved structure fire with flames through the roof and possible entrapment. BKPFD engine 10 committed to the fire with PYFD and BKPFD personnel placing lines for fire suppression, search and rescue. After the blaze was extinguished confirmation was made that the female resident was safe and accounted for. Due to heavy fire damage the overhaul and investigation was a long process. Penn Yan Fire responded with Engine 2, Tanker TA-18, Rescue M5, and Car 9-02. PYFD was released at 1845 hrs. The fire is still under investigation by the Yates county fire investigation team. The blaze claimed a 20x40 house as well as a five pets. |
