Penn Yan Responds Mutual Aid to Room and Contents Fire. Dresden, NY - A fire on Christmas morning broke out on Hazard Road in the Dresden fire district upon arrival Deputy's reported heavy smoke from the first floor. Dresden requested mutual aid from PYFD, Himrod FD, and Dundee FD at 0115 hours. PYFD responded with TA-18 and Heavy Rescue 5 within 5 minutes. The fire was located in the front room and was knocked down within minutes. Minor water and fire damage occurred; the family was allowed to return to their house after operations ended. PYFD was returned into service at 0220. |

Penn Yan Responds To Working Vehicle Fire Penn Yan, NY, At 1430 on 12/19/06 Penn Yan Fire was dispatched to a working car fire located on Liberty Street in the village, Engine 3 was dispatched along with Heavy Rescue 5. Upon arrival it was determined that a 2 door car was fully involved with several exposures. Firefighters had the fire under control in less than 5 minutes,however, overhaul of the vehicle took some time as firefighters had to remove a large wooden sub woofer enclosure. Penn Yan was cleared from the scene at 1510. Lost in the fire was a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am GT with high end audio equipment.

Penn Yan Responds Mutual Aid to Working Structure
Himrod, NY, A call came into Penn Yan command for mutual aid assistance with a working structure fire. Penn Yan responded with Engine 1 and Heavy Rescue 5. On scene at 1818 Hours E1 out of Penn Yan was requested to setup water suppy operations to aid in the shuttle of water from departments from Himrod, Dundee, and Dresden. Water supply was established and remained consistent for the 1hr and 15min operations. On scene at 1820 was M5 Heavy Rescue, command was established and linked with Himrod FD, M5 supplied SCBA and interior equipment for all mutual aid departments on the grounds. Penn Yan was released at 1953. The fire claimed a 1961 Jaguar Mark 9 Limo, a full bay garage, a 25x50 wood shop and a car port. |

PYFD Attends Interior Training |

The Penn Yan Fire Department conducted interior training operations at the Canandaigua, NY burn building. With over 10 firefighters attending, PYFD was able to reiterate its commitment to aggressive interior attacks. New techniques where used where applicable and most firefighters where able to conduct several "attack runs".

The Penn Yan Fire Department is pleased to announce the addition of a fully integrated Multi-Class foam system on its Ellsworth Hose 1986 Pierce pumper. This truck is now first due at all airport related incidents. Members of the PYFD have been advised on its operation and Engine 1 will be serving the Yates County area at its full capacity. This system will also be used in automobile and hazmat situations.
